Course/Event Descriptions10 Day Basic Computer Course - This course is designed for the beginner or senior that has little to no experience with a computer. This is a very slow paced class getting you familiar with the keyboard, mouse, computer desktop, very basic overview of common programs and the internet. $30 per person+gst/2 hours a day meets 2 days a week (total 10 days). Taught by CAP Intern Intermediate Computer Course - Creating folders, saving to different drives, Internet options, deleting temporary files, cookies, and history, changing internet home page, adding to favorites, etc. $10.00 per person+gst/3 hour course. Taught by CAP Intern Basic Facebook - This is an introduction to Facebook. Learn how to setup a facebook account, set up your profile and settings, etc. $10.00 per person+gst/3 hour course. Taught by CAP Intern Intermediate Facebook - If you already have a Facebook account but want to learn more about friends, groups, games, applications, pictures, etc. This would be the second level of learning what is offered within Facebook. $10.00 per person+gst/3 hour course. Taught by CAP Intern Digital Camera Course - Learn more about your digital camera, uploading pictures to your computer, printing pictures, uploading to internet (either facebook or wal-mart service). $10.00 per person+gst/3 hour course. Taught by CAP Intern Digital Photography 101: Emphasis on DSLR cameras - A ten week course with eight classroom sessions and two field trips (times to be arranged), exploring all aspects of photography. The course is designed for beginning photographers who use a DSLR camera, or who are planning on buying a DSLR camera. While students who use non DSLR cameras will certainly benefit greatly from the course, they should be aware that some of the camera features and controls covered may not apply to their equipment. While learning about their camera's major features and controls, students will have the opportunity to present their photographs to the class through weekly assignments. The assignments, while not mandatory, will reflect the topic of each weeks class. Some of the major topics covered include: Exposure and exposure modes, Aperture and shutter speed effects, Composition, Lenses, Light and light meters, Flash photography, and Strategies for different shooting situations. Professional Photographer/Instructor: Oliver Childs. Course cost $200 per person+gst/30 hour course. Digital Photography 102: Advanced DSLR Photography - A ten week course with eight classroom sessions and two field trips (times to be arranged), and is designed for the student who already has a knowledge of photographic principles and a familiarity with the camera's basic controls and functions. Digital photography 101 (or equivalent) is a prerequisite for enrollment. Students will be expected to provide their own cameras and tripods and are strongly encouraged to also invest in a dedicated flash. While this is a digital photography course it is also open to photographers who are using 35mm SLR film cameras. Building on their knowledge, students will expand their basic skills and progress beyond the fundamentals. Emphasis will be placed on practicing good technique in order to achieve maximum performance from the camera. Also central to the course will be the concepts of planning a shoot and understanding how light behaves. Weekly voluntary assignments will help cement the knowledge gained in the classroom. Among the major topics covered will be: Lighting, contrast, and light modification, Studio techniques in the home environment, Composition, Colour theory, Metering techniques, Macro photography and stock photography, Other styles will also be explored depending on the specific interests of the class, Black and white photography, Workflow. Professional Photographer/Instructor: Oliver Childs. Course cost $200 per person+gst/30 hour course. Microsoft Word & Keyboarding - Learn Miscrosoft Word in depth. Learn to create business documents, letters, resumes, etc. and also strenthen your keyboarding skills. Professional Instructor: Shirlene O'Brien. Course cost $200 per person+gst/30 hour course. Microsoft Excel - Learn Microsoft Excel in depth. Learn how to create business reports, use templates, charts & diagrams. Course cost $200 per person+gst/30 hour course. Microsoft PowerPoint - Learn Microsoft PowerPoint in depth to be able to create professional presentations and slide shows. Professional Instructor: Dennis Hubert. Course cost $100 per person+gst/10 hour course Literacy Upgrading Program - This program is customized for each student. Areas of concentration may be reading, writing, math and computer skills. For ages 18 and above. Instructor: Vaunda Richard. There is no cost to the student and will meet 2 days a week for a couple hours each day. Annual Fall/Holiday Craft Fair - This event takes place mid October. Maritime artisians selling everything from jewellery to jams! Get your Christmas shopping done early. Admission is only $1. Vendors can purchase table space for $20. Scrapbook Crop Event - Gather all your pictures and scrapbook supplies and come and scrapbook for a day with fellow scrappers, share ideas, learn new techniques using distress ink, stickles, buttons, ribbon, brads and more, try out die cut tools you may have never tried before i.e. cricuit & cuttlebug. $15 per person+gst/10-12 hour event. Refreshments and snacks included, door prizes and scrapbook stores on-site. |
