New book clubs open in O’Leary

The non-profit FutureTech West, in O’Leary, recently announced the launch of two new book clubs serving West Prince; one for men and women, and one for teens.

West Prince Book Club and West Prince Teen Book Club will begin operations Monday, Aug 1.

The fledgling clubs will meet monthly on Monday evenings 6:30 to 8 pm (adults meet the first Monday and teens meet the second Monday) at FutureTech West.

UPEI professor Shirlene O’Brien, M.A. Ed., will serve as facilitator.

Future TechWest, in conjunction with The Public Library Service of Prince Edward Island, will provide book kits containing the necessary items for all the participants, including books and discussion guides.

Several hundred books of all genres will be available to choose from, and in some cases audio-CD copies are provided for those who want to participate, but don’t have time to read a book per month.

At the first meeting members will choose from a suggested list which books to read for first six months.

Each book is about 300-pages long.

Groups will consist of a maximum of 10 people each.

More groups will be added if the demand supports them. A one-time membership fee of $20 for adults and $10 for teens will be charged.
